With Ben Shapiro Coming, Come to an Anti-Racist Teach-in Instead
Noel Gordon, Jr., Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Policy
Higher education has been flummoxed in recent years by white extremists and their attempts to sow division and discord on college and university campuses nationwide. Caught between a professed commitment to both freedom of speech and social justice, college and university administrators are desperate for ways to avoid violent altercations between student protesters that can cost up to $600,000 per episode. This presentation provides an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of White Supremacy in the Age of Trump, a successful anti-racist teach-in held earlier this year at the University of Minnesota. Event organizers share how they were able to apply research about equity and inclusion to this real world situation, as well as lessons learned for those interested in alternative approaches to combating white supremacy.
